Loss & Gains

Last night, I realised I lost & gain something while in London/Italy.

I have lost my waist and I have gained some unwanted inches ;-( .

This must be due to those cheese and cold cured meat I had. And those heavy breakfastS and carbo loaded dinners.

I cannot afford to keep this extra flabs because of my height, or rather lack of it.

Arrrrggg..time to get back to my exercise routine, which I really have been neglecting these days. And with Chinese New Year just 3 weeks away, I doubt I will be successful in my this resolution!

Good luck to me..

Tiring Sunday

Just arrived back from Tapah after visiting Jas at her NS Camp.

Our first experience of visiting her :

On entering the camp, we were greeted by some of the attendees on duties, where they helped us to carry the bags to the canteen area. Then the bags were just scan thru to make sure we did not bring any non-halal food and sharp objects. We proceeded to register counter, where some other attendees stand up and greeted us..you know like those departmental store staff standing in line when they just open in the morning and greeting you when you walk in. They will proceed to page for the intended attendee.

My daughter did not wait for them to page.

She was so happy & excited to see us that she ran and gave me a big hug.

We brought her one of her favorite food - hei koh chee cheong fun, all the way from Penang and also smuggled in some char siew/siew yoke. Ok, we were sensitive enough and did not use the canteen's utensils.

Listening her recite her daily routine, eg waking up at 5.30am, wash/iron own clothes, clean toilets etc, really sounds like an inmate's life.

On the brighter side, this is actually a good life time experience.

And when we left the canteen, those attendees on duty will stand up and say good -bye etc etc.. short of a red carpet, this is really like a VIP reception..

Nothing Much

It's more than a week since I came back from my vacation.

I just love the sun that's always smiling everyday. I can enjoy my days better under the sun, and of course not to mention that I do not need to wear layers and layers of clothings before stepping out of the house. Living near equatorial where we enjoy the warm is definitely a blessing.

I have eaten all (or almost all) the food I miss while away, so most of my cravings are satisfied, but then, there may be some dishes that I have left out. Have to do a 'must-eat' check-list on this. Was wondering why is my pants shrinking, especially at the waist and butt areas, probably the hot sun is the culprit!

I've catched up with most of my office stuff, although it's not that much lah, since I have nice colleagues (overseas ones too) that have helped me to co-ordinate whatever documentations that need to be done while I was away. Always believe that having teamwork in office makes working life easier.

I tried to change my blogskin back to it's original style (the one before X'mas). After poking here and there for the code, I could not really get it back to the original, but what the heck, so long as I still can write crabs (not the shellfish, but complains/grumbles/critism) with it, ok loh.

The house is a bit more quiet nowadays. Must be because my doter is in NS, so there is always an extra empty seat during meal times. Definitely notice there are less word batterings in the house. Meaning that my doter has her own mind/opinion nowadays. I should be glad, but at the same time sad. I think I am already missing her presence, besides a pair of helpful hand during cooking and baking sessions, and of course house keeping time. And yes, no one hoarding the PC in the evenings. I am mentally preparing myself for the day she leaves the nest to start her own life, but still we always wish they are our little girls, to be protected and be kept under our armpits (nope, I do not have BO).

My jr girl has started her Secondary 1. She is finding it a bit difficult mixing around with classmates/schoolmates since there are more Malays and Indians, but she will adjust. It will be good step for her to assimilate into our multi-racial and cultural society.

And one more thing, nowadays I reach office at 9 or sometimes a bit later. Hahaha..nice after 5 years of leaving the house early, it's a blessing to sleep late and drive leisurely to work.

My boss is still travelling frequently, so that will leave me more time to yak and yak nonsense & rubbish..

Welcome to 2010 and good life!

PS: for a title 'NOTHING MUCH', this definitely is not!

Khidmat Negara (National Service)

This morning we sent Jas to her camp at Tapah for her national service.

Leaving at 6.30am, we arrived at the camp area about 9.00am, after a brief stop at Bidor for breakfast.

The NS camp is located in the middle of an oil palm estate, about 15km away from Tapah town.

After checking her in, we chit-chatted with some of the trainers there and from the conversation, the NS is not that terrible and horrible (stories of which we gathered from the MSM). Their routines seem to be quite relax and not much of hard strenuous physical activities. 6 meals are provided per day with ample of rest time in between meals and the next activity.

Trainees of different faiths will be ferried to the places of worship during the weekends.

They are also allowed some days off for CNY (meaning that we will have our 'traffic feel' this year driving north to bring her home).

We get to see her every Sunday (in the camp compound) and I have already a list of 'to bring' for our next visit.

Looks like we will be travelling north frequently during this period.

On the bright side, I get to eat more of Ipoh kueh teow and ngah chow kai!

First working day 2010

Today is my first working day for the year , after my 3 weeks vacation.

Have to work for the $$ for my next vacation ...emmm, yes, I am already planning my 'time-out/off', but this time it will be somewhere nearer and with a bearable & affordable ex-change rates. Look East should be my travel policy for 2010.
