Chinese New Year

I can keep away all my balance angpows for next year! I have no more excuses to eat more than I am supposed to. I have to keep to my diet plan.

I have been eating too much for the past 3 weeks..even before the new year started, i have been munching on cookies ..eating them when they were still fresh..(why wait till they go stale!!!!)

Gatherings with relatives, ex-colleagues and classmates..stuffing myself with food and more food..

it was a great CNY..

my cousins and nieces / nephews having a great time !

CNY Mood?

This year’s CN Y shopping scenarios is definitely not as festive as previous years…perhaps (more like definitely) this is the sign of the coming recession that our country and the world are facing. Many families are tightening their belts and not splurging on the un-necessities.
Factories/offices are retrenching employees, cutting down on production hours and having staff going on unpaid leaves
.

No new pajamas, new shoes, (new underwears??) for the family this year. My girls are mature enough to appreciate that they have at least new clothes for the Chinese New Year, unlike some unfortunate kids in other parts of the country and world. Celebrating the new year means to have a nice reunion dinner and sharing happy moments together while keeping our Chinese traditions alive.

I will ‘sau koong’ on Friday and ‘hoi koong’ only on the ‘Chor Kau’ ..it does not matter that it is not a good day for me to start work as per the astrology chart circulating around the net. I feel lucky and bless as I still have a job to come back to.

PS : On second thoughts, maybe I may buy a new pair of slippers instead, because wearing a new pair of slippers that is bought before the new year, means to step on the people who gossip about you - LOL.that's according to some ahkong ahpoh's belief.

恭喜發財;

Egg In The Face !

This is called 'EGG IN THE FACE'

Hubby ordered this for breakfast to show me how it is served...so that I can prepare the same for him at home the next time he fancies it!

Egg in the Face indeed..depending on my mood loh...i may 'serve' more than 'egg in the face'

Garlic butter on toasted bread, top with ham and soft-boiled egg...

Sunday Morning, Up with the Lark

Hubby woke me up at 7 this morning...not for my line dancing class but to drag me shopping with him at Tesco the Curve

arrrggggghhh!! i would love to go to the Curve anytime but not at 7 in the morning loh...he wanted to get some CNY stuffs (edible and non) and wanted to avoid traffic and no parking spaces. Tesco opens daily from 8am.

Have to miss my line dancing..giving up my one love for another love..what a big sacrifice today!

Sunday morning, up with the lark
I think I'll take a walk at Tesco
Hey, hey, hey, it's a beautiful day
I've got someone waiting for me
And when I see him I know that he'll say
Hey, hey, hey, what a beautiful day

Hi, hi, hi, beautiful Sunday
This is my, my, my, beautiful day
When you said, said, said, said that you loved me
Oh my, my, my, it's a beautiful day

Preparing for the Lunar Chinese New Year

This year, we decided to paint the 1st floor of the house, which we have neglected to give any 'face-lift' since we moved in.

Armed with rollers, paint pans and old newspaper, the whole family started with the two back rooms. We decided to stick with the same colours - well just in case we miss any spots, it will not be so obvious ...LOL...I am a BAD painter, always have been and always will be, so mostly I was spared of doing the actual work, only 'touch-up' here & there, and fetching utensils and the cool refreshments

One day gone for both rooms..

Continuing the project a week later with the 2nd family hall..Jasmine went to the education fair, so only 3 of us to carry on the 'big project'.

Now the rooms looks 'cleaner' and perhaps 'happier'!
