This year Mooncake Festival is on October 3rd, 2009, which is lunar calendar the eight month 15th day. The Chinese Mooncake Festival is actually called the Mid-Autumn Festival in China.
But since we Malaysia have no autumn, winter etc. this occasion is known as Mooncake Festival.
On this night, the Chinese will eat mooncake, as the round shape of the mooncake, with its smooth texture signifies family unity, blessings of prosperity and abundance of love.
Children will be seen walking around the neighborhood in
their colored lanterns, normally in red and in various forms
of designs. A bright lantern signify that life will always be bright, full of lights and good hopes for the future.
