Bangkok Platinum Shopping Plaza

We took the BTS till Childlom station, and walked about 10 minutes toward the mall, which is divided into Plaza A&B.

More details on shop, opening hours etc, please refer platinumfashionmall

Some shops do accept credit cards but may charge the 3%.
There are few foreign money changers..they need your passport for verification.
Luckily for us, we had copies of it in our Iphone, which was accepted.

The place is so huge with more than 2,000 shops, browsing thru each and every outlets would take almost one day..
serious shopping take the other day..

my personal advice..
see it, like it. buy it...you may not be able to locate the shop again in the maze

Always ask for wholesale price..sometime you get lucky and the owner would just sell one piece to you at wholesale price..like the cardigan below ..

Sharing my loot for my doters  from this plaza,

The black cardigan THB350

THB250

Spaghetti Strap T-THB100/piece

Cotton Pants - THB150/ Cotton Panties - THB50/pc

This shop - Sherbet, must be one of the most fashionable supplier..many vendors were just jostling to get their wares when the shop opened for business..

Sherbet Dress - THB350

Bought these 3 pieces from the same store .
Already wholesale prices, one piece, two pieces - same prices

THB300
THB350
Cotton dress - THB350

An these 2 from another store..
Price for 1 piece  THB300
Price for 2 pieces THB450
What better excuse than to buy two pieces as allowed to mix different designs
THB275

Yes, last but not least, winter gloves @ THB200
Glove was such a bargain we had to buy ...would come in handy (pun intended) for our holiday to cold countries..

Bangkok@Park Plaza Sukhumvit

Back from my 3D/2N 'working' trip to Bangkok, Thailand.

Left on 3/10/2013 MH 3099 - code share with Thai Airways..
Returned on 5/10/2013 MH791 ETD BKK 1740pm, eta KLIA 10.45pm
Reached home 12 midnite..

Chose to return to

because of the location on Sukhumvit Soi 20, just few minutes walk from Asoke BTS ..

Other brownies points to this hotel :-

2) Asok Foreign Currency Exchange round the corner has one of the best rates. trust me, I know cos we had to change CNY due to my shopping frenzy..

3) Cloth shop nearby with tons of varieties..and very very reasonable prices..

4) the staff was very honest in transportation recommendation to use a metered taxi rather than hotel limo to Impact Centre.

5) and the best of the deal.. I had a free upgrade to Corner Deluxe Room

Kota Kinabalu - March 2013 - Day 1

After much contemplating and '1 2 zoommm' amongt the group, the decision was

KOTA KINABALU
WE ARE COMING!!

23rd March 2013
Our flight from LCCT departed on time..
Landed at KK Airport at 10.00am..

and then the drama began..

Our driver was not there to greet us..
Calls made to the office not answered.
Then the driver called me..saying he is on the way..
And 'his on the way' was at least 40 minutes later..

Is this a 'bad' omen or what?

With 11 paxes and many luggages, we managed to squeeze into this van

first stop..breakfast...

With a satiated team, we were on our way to Kota Kinabalu Park..

But on the way, must stop also for our load of Vitamic C...fresh local fruits...
Sabah pineapples...sweet, juicy and fibreless

Sabah organic bananas

Our first glimpse of Kota Kinabalu Mountain..the peak is hidden by the heavy clouds..

Kota Kinabalu : March 2013

We are the 'kam sei' group..

The Sulu landed at Lahad Datu sometimes in mid Feb 2013..apparently they wanted to take back Sabah from Malaysia.  Their Sultan, had sent his troops over by boats and they are holed up in the villages. You want more details, please read it here

Over in Penisular Malaysia, we have 'unofficial' reports that KK is in chaos, shops are closing early (that means also our seafood restaurants)..people are staying in-door after dusk, pasar malams are deserted..army and tanks are patrolling the streets..security is so strung up..

On the other hand, our Tourism Ministry said it is safe to visit West Sabah ...

Ok, so to go or not to go ..AirAsia tickets purchased already in late 2012..either we take the risks or burnt our $$

Sometimes,  I wounder why are we so 'lucky''...we were in Bali after the 2nd bombing (Oct 2005) , and now this ...haiiiiiizzz

High Tea at 823m

Penang Hill is about 823 meters (2750 feet) above sea level.
This oldest hill resort and the first in Malaysia with cool, unpolluted air and historical feature. It's original name was Flagstaff Hill, where a flag fluttering from a flagpole at Bel Retiro, the home of the Governor of Penang at that time, was used as a signal transmitter.

It is also called  Penang Hill or Bukit Bendera, "Seng Kee Sua" in Hokkien
Francis Light plotted Penang Hill during his horse track way back in 1788.

Its average temperature is between 20-27 degree celcius.

George Town Festival 2012 Murals

Was given the mission by my daughter to locate some of the murals/painting done by this Lithunian artist for Penang 2012 festival

QUOTE
Mirrors George Town is a street art project created by international artist Ernest Zacharevic for George Town Festival 2012. The project consists of 6 to 12 large-scale wall paintings strategically placed within the core heritage zone of George Town. The painted figure drawings and portraits celebrate the multiculturalism and diversity of local inhabitants.

Currently paintings have been completed on Armenian Street, Muntri Street, and Chew Jetty.
UNQUOTE

Walking around Armenian Street and Muntri Street in the late evening, I managed to find 3 of his drawings..

The Old man, whom was his neighbour
(the painting is already fading due to the harsh Malaysian weather)

Kid reaching for teddy bear

Tired feet, tumpang duduk ya !

Kids on Bicyle

Aunty also want to tumpang

My next mission to Penang would be to locate these (photos taken from apple4today)

He is still painting around the town, which is a wonderful contribution...
and make it more a reason to go Penang again..

Revisiting Ho Chi Minh - Vietnam

Back to the land of motorcyclists, dangling cables, and of course Poh and Rolls..

Spent an extended weekend during the Nuzul Quran holidays at Saigon aka Ho Chi Minh city.
