Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

Last weekend, went shopping with my eldest daughter @ Berjaya Times Squares. She has to get some new clothes for a few upcoming wedding dinners.

Located on the ground floor is the newly opened Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. They have 16 varieties. We bought a box of 12 do-nuts @ RM23.90/box to taste if they are better than the other 2 brands.

I have a sweet-tooth (or two) and love all stuffs sweet, but Krispy Kreme is extremely overly sweet. Each doughnut is sugar coated before they are re-coated & filled with flavours.

The whole family choices of doughnuts are still Big Apple and J&Co.

Aunt Jasmine

Last Friday evening, after hubby and eldest girl sent the sister to tuition centre, she came barging into the kitchen and this was our conversation.

Doter (in angry tone) :
Mummy, do you know what Sook Chin’s brother called me just now?

(Sook Chin mother and I car pooled for Friday tuition, the boy is 13 years old)

Me
What did he call you - leng lui jie jie??

Doter
No..guess again..

Me
Can’t think of anything..what did he call you?

Doter (in a madder tone)
Aunty !

Me
HAHAHAHAHAHAAHaaaa.. (I laughed until my eyes tears!)

Doter
Very funny meh??

Me
Yes, very very..you always called me aunty, so now you are also an aunty. Welcome to the club.

But why did he call you aunty?

Doter
I also don’t know. After he got down from the car, he turned
around and said this to me ‘Aunty – please pass the keys to my sister’

Me
Ha ha ha ha..see I told you to cut your hair shorter. The last time
you had long hair, someone said you were my sister-in-law*..now with shoulder length hair, some one called you aunty. Go hair saloon tomorrow and crop off those hair !

* during our 2007 Hainan trip, an uncle mistook my doter as my mother-in-law's doter – so my doter became my sister in law lioa..

Tiring Days

I promised my little girl that she can have cupcakes for her Teacher's Day celebration today, that's after negotiating from sushi. Yesterday, immediately upon reaching home, I changed, took out the stuffs and started with the the first round of cupcakes making. The first tray of 12 cups were ready an hour later, followed by the 2nd round. Total only 24 cupcakes so far.

It was not enough cakes to go around, had to drive out to get the ingredients (losing valuable time in the process). By the time I finished the 3rd round, it was already 8pm..quickly rushed over for LD pratice. Stayed for the pratice till about 10pm, came home, bathed and continued with the 4th round of baking. Now we have 68 Oreo & Raisins cupcakes. After decorating them, it was past midnite. I am sooooo tired.

Tonite final pratice for Sekinchan event tomorrow and then on Sunday I can ...

Air Asia 1,000,000 Free Tickets

AA was throwing 1 million free seats, first for selected domestic flights on Monday - 11th May and on Wednesday - 13th May, they were also giving free tickets to certain overseas destinations.

I wanted to see BoroBudur and started searching for free seats to Jogjakarta. After selecting the departure dates, I was so happy because there were free seats available and the total fare came up to less than RM200/= for two paxes.

Grabbing my credit card to proceed for payment, that is when the fun began. Just as I was to check for payment, ta la la ..the error page came up..

Desparate for the seats (kiasu me loh), i tried and tried and tried for the next few hours, lost count of umpteen times, but with no luck!

Gave up! Borobudur will just have to wait!

He is becoming sexier and sexier with age. The grey makes him look more handsome! One of those rare species who never get scared of getting old!

Balik Kampung - Hainan Island

In Dec 2007, we visited Hainan Island.

My hubby’s 2nd uncle is staying at the ancestral’s home on that island. This trip was ‘2 birds with 1 stone’ as beside being our annual year end holiday, it was also an opportunity for us to know paternal roots.

Our flight with Hainan Airlines left KLIA at 4 am and arrived Hainan Island at 7am. After breakfast of delicious congee/yau char kuai and other stuffs , we ‘balik kampung’ with a pre-arranged MPV.

The drive was less than 2 hours, on very good conditions highway, and we did not see any toll booths. 2nd uncle met us at the junction of main road to show the way as the houses are located about 2-3 km away off the main artilleries.

My daughter’s remarks on the way in was ‘ this is like going jungle trekking’.

(located about 200m away from the house, is a communal praying temple, where offerings are made on the main festivals ie. Chinese New Year, Moon Cake Festival etc)

this was the well that was built using $ sent home by Grandpa in the 60s. It dried up and they covered it up to prevent accident.

Now the underground water is drawn from this well, using a electrical pump. This water source is shared between the Goh and Lim villages.

Pangkor Laut Resort

Our company’s trip in 2008 was to Pangkor Laut. We stayed at the YTL Pangkor Laut Resort for 3 Days/2 Nights.

Lucky me was given the Pavarotti Suite for the 4 of us. Named after the world-renowned tenor who fell in love with Pangkor Laut, this is an elegant two-bedroom suite set high on the hill in the rainforest.

On the ground floor, is the spacious and luxurious living room, dining hall, kitchen (complete with utensils and ready to drink from coffee machine), TV room with plasma screen. The 1st floor housed the two bedrooms, with a reading corner, an enormous open-roofed bathroom and balcony with breathtaking views of the sea and tropical rainforest

It was a bit spooky on the first night for me, because there were potraits of the 'deceased' Mr Pavarotti, and I felt that his eyes were staring down at me. Maybe because the villa was situated at the rainforest, the sound of the forest at night was kind of scary..ok loh..call me scary cat if you want to.

So on the first night, I tumpang room with my two girls as hubby could only joined us on the 2nd night due to work commitment.

Below some photos of this lovely resort.
