My First Red Velvet Cake

After reading all the reviews about red velvet cakes and their deliciousness, me decided that I need to try this cake.  But the kiam siap me was too stingy to buy a piece at exhorbitant price just to taste !

Then me decided to try baking this cake..

Presenting my not so 'red' velvet version...

The redness is from artificial colouring.  This is for own consumption, I only added 2 drops into the batter.

Snow White & The Huntsman

We watched ‘SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN’ today, the first day premiering on local screens.

This version is definitely not for those die-hard romantic people, where Snow White is expected to marry her prince and live happily every after!

Do not watch this movie, thinking of the Disney’s version, of soft feminine Snow White, whom speaks with a squeaky girlish voice, singing, cooing and cooking for the 7 dwarfs.  And being awoken by Prince Charming's kiss when she was in a coma after eating the rotten apple.

Btw, it was also not the Prince whom wrested her throne from the Wicked Queen...neither was Snow White in coma for a 100 years!

I pity the Wicked Step Mother..like every mortal woman, there is this vain competition where she needs to be assured that she the most beautiful and fairest of them all so that she does not lost her throne.  Make me think of all the botox injections ladies subject themselves too just to keep their men at their side and not go chasing after the SYT..

Well, it was a worthy day to spend it with my jr on her school holidays.

Malaysia my Beloved Country

My friends said I was very brave to attend Bersih 3.0.

Actually it was not bravery but fear made me attend this event.

Fear that we would be told to leave the country because we spoke up on human rights issues

Fear that my children would no longer be able to walk freely and enjoy their freedom in this beautiful land

Fear that the country where our Ah Kongs & Ah Mahs toiled and built up for us would be turned into a wasteland because of radiation, pollution and corruption.

Fear that one day, the future generation are forced to be a new wave of immigrants to another country

We have let down the younger generation in our younger days, so let's try to make changes while we still  can.

For Malaysia is Negara Tumpah Darah Ku!

Bersih 3.0 - I am Glad I Did It

I am glad I did it!

Hubby only confirmed on Friday evening that we would be attending BERSIH 3.0.

After watching the Bersih 1.0 & 2.0 from the comfy of my home while my country men women braved the onslaught of tear gas  water cannon, I told myself that I would attend Bersih 3.0.
We owe it to our future generation to make right the situation !

With Hubby and doter, we would make it a family event.

That night, we packed the necessity as advised : salt, rain clothes, mineral water, goggles, face mask and lastly ear plugs when it was FB that the PDRM has bought acoustic guns.

Next morning, we took a commuter to KL Old Station Centre and had breakfast at Kopitiam Lai Foong in Jalan Tun HS Lee.
The shop were filled with customers, old and young, and 99% in yellow.

I felt elated as Malaysians has made the efforts to wake up early on a Saturday, reached the city early to avoid the road-closures hassle as associated with Bersih.

We took a leisure stroll towards Jalan Petaling and here more yellow &green crowds can be seen, including Angry Birds.

Walking towards Jalan Sultan, a barricade of police was there,, but they make no effort to stop the crowds.

Many of us took the opportunity to have photography sessions here.

It was great to be walking leisurely on Saturday morning, enjoying the almost carnival like atmosphere for once.

Everyone was relaxed, smiling, walking without a care in the world, no rushing here and there

WHAT A FEELING.

Quarter before 12 noon, we made it to McDonald Jalan Silang to have our early lunch as the march would start at 2pm from Central Market.  My gosh, the place was packed yellow.
We walked over to Central Market and mingled around with crowd.
At 1.45pm, Mrs Ambiga was on CM stage with her speech. We could not hear clearly as we were a distance away.

Sharp at 2pm, the crowd moved out towards Dataran Merdeka. With chants of Bersih, it was a peaceful stroll towards the designation.

Unit Amal of PAS did an awesome job leading and controlling the crowd!
They were also the front liners to feel the impact of the tear gas and water cannon later

When we reached the junction of Jalan Tun HS Lee/Jalan Tun Perak, the crowd was told to DUDUK Bantah on the road since Dataran Merdeka was out of bound.  Made you think wat shitty govt we have to ban the rakyat from our own Dataran.

Like good kindergarten kids, we all sat down, chit chatting and idlying our time.
Just before 3pm, the crowd was told to disperse as BERSIH had made our point!

We decided to stay around and enjoy KL a little longer.

At the juncture of Jalan Tun Perak & Jalan Ampang, we could see activities near Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad, and then smokes!!

The tear gas being fired at the crowd.

I felt my face stinging and my eyes watering. Ran as fast as I could (while putting on my goggles) towards Pudu Sentral area.  People were running in every directions to prevent from being targetted.  And the protesters were also helping each others during this chaotic moments.

I felt so furious that the stupid BL**DY SH#$% GOVT was using our money to gas and water us.
We took refuge at Pudu Sentral and freshened ourselves.  After 30 minutes, we walked towards Jalan Sultan/Petaling to make our way to KTM KL.

We could still feel the sting of tear gas as the authority was still firing them even when the majority has left the scene.  Perhaps they have a quota for the date :-(

Walking pass  Jalan Bandar, the police was barricading up the road, and threw stones at the passers, for whatever reaons only known to them.

Train station was full of participants, tired physically but happy spiritually, waiting to go home to their beloved at home.

On this memorable day, we did not see each others as Malay, Chinese, Indian, Ibans, Dayak dan lain lain. We only saw ourselves as MALAYSIANS!!

She Did A Good Job

My doter, whom, I would said ‘slightly pampered’ since she is the first born grand child & daughter, has done a good job working every day 12 hours for the past 10 days to earn her pocket money for Taipei trip.

She definitely has grown up, mature and knows that money does not grow on trees.

Her job was to promote health drink. She had to approach customers for product testing and convince them.

Shyness has make way for courage and determination to achieve sales target.

She would succeed in life if she continues with this streak of hers.

Time&Tide wait for no man

Time and tide go on passing without caring for anybody and anything!

Opportunities do not wait for anyone. So one should be fully prepared to make the best use of an opportunity as and when it presents itself.

A Kay Poh Chi Shih Tzu

Angel loves cats.
We always teased her by saying CATS CATS CATS and
she would shoot off to the kitchen, smelling for cats
and peeping for them thru the grill door.
And when Angel sees them, she would be so excited,
barking non stop until the cats moved out of her senses & sights
Sometimes we carry Shorty Angel to have a good look over the grill door so that she is satisfied there are not more cats in the backlane

This morning, while cleaning my kitchen, Angel was busy barking and jumping, hoping she can see the cats.
And me being occupied with my cleaning, had no time to carry her for a peep.

Improvised, Angel can have the backlane view to her satisfaction & heart content.

Presenting KPC Angel..
