Garuda is Cheating !
This advertisement appears in today The Star Newspapers, page W37, on the right hand lower corner.
We have been planning to go Jakarta / Bandung..belum pernah visit these two cities. And heard that Bandung is a shopping paradise, so the more excuse to hop over from Jakarta
Asked my girlfriend working in a travel agency what's the package like. Unfortunately, she said have to book directly with Garuda.
So I went onto Garuda's webpage to search for some information first lah..why want to bother people if you can find information online,,that's what the cyberspace is for rite?
Their webpage mentioned for departures upto 31st March 2010..that's today lah (and some already expired in Dec 2009)
So boh pian..have to call them. This is my conversation with the Garuda lady staff.
Me
Good morning (i very polite wan ok)...I like to ask you about the Garuda package for 3D/2N Bandung
She
Hold on, I check first.
(I could hear her frisking thru her papers searching for information)
She
Package valid for departure upto June 2010. You have to pay for the airport tax/fuel surchage
Me
But in the Star newspaper, it is mentioned that package is inclusive of airport, fuel & service tax.
She
Is it? Hold on, I check again.
(and I was put on hold for 2-3 minutes..no background music..just dead silence)
She
You have to pay for the airport tax - RM51.00 and fuel surcharge : RM102.00
Total is RM996.00/pax.
(Note : not even a word of apology from the lady for printing error)
I refused to argue with her further on this matter, since it was probably Garuda Management's mistake on the newpaper advertisement.
Me
If I am interested to join, I have to book directly with Garuda or can I go through travel agent?
She
You can go through travel agent.
Me
Is it? My agent said we have to book direct with Garuda
She
Then you have to book direct with us lah..
(pls click on the image for better view)

Birds & Bees
My girl was doing her science homework on cells and human body. Being the a bit kiasu mummy, I was a bit worried that she may not be able to catch up on the terminologies. Sat with her and tried my best to explain the body and it's systems.
Explaning briefly the body nervous , digestive, skeletal & respiratory systems were all ok. Then came the reproductive system. There was a diagram of both the male & female reproductive system, complete with all details. Mummy has to explain about the birds & bees, and kids, being too smart for their parents nowadays, do ask questions...and mummy, being the protective one, said that the man will only have permission to put his 'sheshe' into the woman 'petpet' after they are married.
And she asked..'the sheshe' is so small, how to put inside ? I told her, when the husband sees the wife, he will be very happy, and his little 'sheshe' will also grow longer ...(kakaka) ..and she still have to ask, not logic lah..how to grow longer etc etc..
And then she said..'Mom, are you sure you are telling me the truth? You do not have a 'sheshe' woh. I will ask Daddy!'
Wahlau..children so bold nowadays, even dare to ask papa about his 'sheshe'
And the moment Daddy hear daughter is coming with her question, he quickly escaped from her sight, into the room and pretend to be so so busy!

Tomorrow The Drill
Woosshh...I managed to procastinate ...
my appointment with the dentist..I was supposed to go back to see him after I finished the antibiotic course, which was for one week.
All the antibiotic stuff already output to don't know where, but me still dare not go face him..
I am so darn afraid of dentist. Must be from those dreadful experiences during childhood. I am not those faithful every 6 months sure-go patient.
The scaling part is bearable, but when he spots a cavity and need to make good the teeth, I cannot tahan drilling part..the sound of the drill going on and on..
thinking of tomorrow's appointment is making me shudder now...

My Latest Beau
Yesterday, I was on MSN with a girlfriend when she asked me if my hubby knew about my latest beau (or was it my last beau)?
I was like, OMG..what made her asked that question? how did she know & where did she get that piece of information from?
And ..what beau?

Mass Comm It Will Be
My girl decided that she will do Mass Comm..and as parent, we have to be supportive of the selection she made, (and it's not that we parent have a choice & final say)..
Before that, she was in a dilemma, she was thinking of Culinary Arts..in layman terms - play masak masak. Does she really wants to do that?? Slave behind the hot stove, cooking for the eating pleasures of others? that's if she becomes a good chef, otherwise she will just be cutting vegetables, slicing meat and washing lots of utensils. My advice to her was to take up those baking/cooking leisure course during weekends.
anyway, I digressed
We were quite amazed at her result. Without any tuition (except for weekly Principle of Accounts), she has some As, a mixture of C,D, E and even a G ..G for Gagal..in Sejarah.. Sejarah is HISTORY, and it's not so important unless you want to go digging around in some graves or ungodly sites. Those of you whom have secondary school going children, please ask them about our Sejarah syllabus..and if you have insomnia (can't sleep at night), read that book..sure to knock you out in 5 secs flat, better than any sleep inducing pills.
Anyway, we will put history behind us and look forward.
Oh, btw, those with school going teenagers, start saving early for their higher education..it really does cost an arm and leg (literally) these days !

Sunday Dating
I can hardly believe myself ..I have not been into any of the shopping malls in town for the past 3 months...yes, 3 months..this is really record breaking, well at least for me.
Yesterday, being Sunday and with our girls away from us ..Jr went to GH and Sr went lepak with her NS buddies, we two old folks spent our late morning and afternoon walking around Bukit Bintang area. Hopped into Sg Wang and then to Berjaya. .
Window shopping is my detoxification process after 5 days of being cooped up in a cubicle..it does not cause a cent and walking helps to burn off the extra calories.
And what's better than going 'pat toh' or dating with my handsome darling, minus the kids tagging along, on a nice sunny Sunday!

I'M GOING TO THE GATSBY DEODORANT STREET FAIR
I received an email from Nuffnang, informing about this street fair by Gatsby Fair at Berjaya Times Square.
Am I’m going to the Gatsby Deodorant Street Fair? Of course I will lah, better if I am chosen to be specially invited & paid for attending this function.
Ok, this event will be held, details as below :-
Date: 17th April 2010 / Saturday
Time: 10am till 5pm
Venue: Front Foyer, Ground Floor, Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur
Going there means that I, as well as you, her, she, him, he and whomever, may get lucky in the lucky draws, and of course, if you are super duper cool, you can even end up with cool gadgets, worth up to $15,000.
Besides, of course there will be Sumo Wrestling (unfortunately the wrestlers will be in air bags suits, and not in over-sized loin clothes aka pampers like those original Japanese wrestlers), gladiator battles and many more games and activities to make this an extremely exciting, super fun and memorable happening!
Will definitely bring my teenage daughter. She is a bit GATSBY crazy over their range of hair series!
And yes, I wonder if the guy from the Gatsby advertisement will be there too..you know, the guy with very fluid movement, like moving plastic!

Alice in MidValley
I went to the MidValley Edu Fair...tagging along to get some information on colleges and of course how much these colleges will bleed us!
Some very gigantic roses, which comes with human faces, and these are definitely not happy roses..they looked kind of angry or geram..maybe stressed out by so many really human beings and the flashes of cameras/IPhone etc..
At the Centre Court, they put up Alice In Wonderland promotion, in conjunction with the movie screening.
I like to lepak in MidValley, even without any serious shopping..Just hang around and walk like a zombie from North to South court, looking at the window displays and of course at the same time, enjoying the air-conditioned atmosphere..and of course, we have to contribute to the electricity bill, by way of parking fees!
And as in the novel, Alice magical world is filled with huge stuffs..and they are really huge
so huge until my little Canon IXUS cannot capture the whole mushy
like these huge mushrooms (which will definitely makes a lot of soup)

Too bad, like it or not, I am going to be kiasu and not be left out on my share of photography session!
Say Cheese ..you are on my camera and blog

It's Over
My daughter is coming back tomorrow - 10th march. Camp broke earlier thanks to SPM result, which will be out on 11th March.
All in, she was in camp FOR 55 days. Yes, I do count the days she is away from me and home. And it has been six (6) Sundays that we faithfully drive all the way to Chenderiang to visit her. These trips were to replenish her food stuffs as well as to see her well-being in the camp.
I've met many parents, whom were there every weekends to see their children. So I am not only the exceptional case of 'being overprotective parent' group...

Singapore also can hear (?)
This evening, we were watching the Singapore series 'Reunion Dinner', which is shown Mondays-Fridays at 7pm-8pm on Astro 301
Coincidentally, when the iman/uztaz (or whatever names they call themselves) started the Isyak prayer, there was a scene where the lady was closing the windows of her house.
My daughter commented :-
'See, she can also hear the surau's prayer in Singapore, that's why she is closing all her windows.'
