At last, I made it to my first Cheers competition at Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil, thanks to the persistence of my daughter, whom dragged both her parents to this event. This is Cheers 10th anniversary.
We missed the morning session, but thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon session where the best 15teams were vying for the winner trophy! Besides, there were also other complementary awards eg. best supporting team award, best dressed, best make-up etc etc.
It’s good to have teenagers being all rounder, instead of just the book worm that every parent wants their child to be. The Stadium is also a good venue for them to exercise their lungs and shout/scream to their heart contents, and they sure can with the adrenalin rushing thru their young veins. The stadium was roaring with the cheerleaders and avid supporters all cheering like crazy, dressed in their favourite team colours! Some schools also had their own mascots!
The hosts of this year, (sorry did not get the names) was good in creating a lot of funs for the both these teenagers (and the not so young).
As a tribute to the great MJ, they played a few of his songs and had the crowd moving to the rhythm. We also did the Mexican wave twice. Even my ‘china man’ hubby did the wave and the Michael Jackson thriller move!
It was definitely a youthful experience sitting with all these teenagers and to be young at heart again!
