Sunday - 28th June 2009

After jamming @ The Curve, met the family at IKEA foodcourt. My daughter (& I) loves the meatballs, served with the nice creamy sauce and cran berries.

We proceeded to TESCO to get some sundries.

The next BIG QUESTION – where and what for DINNER??

Jasmine suggested Korean food at Dao Rae Korean Restaurant, recommended by her friend.

Location : Dunno.

Only information : the shop is located somewhere at a corner lot
in Kota Damansara.

So we went around and around The Strand and Kota Damansara, looking for the Korean restaurant. Nope, not on this road, the next road please. Nope, let’s turn right at the next junction..

And then, my daughter saw it ! If not for the neon sign, we would have miss the place.

The restaurant is on the 3rd floor, above Khalifah !

I wanted to use the lift, but there was already a crowd of 4 diners in front of us, and the mini lift could accommodate 5paxes. Decided to use the stairs instead. My goodness, my feet is already tired, have to climb the stairs some more!

Need really to soak my poor tired feet in warm water at home

Am I Sick or Just 7+1

Sometimes I think I am sick !

Since young (from the day I know how to read the papers), the first page I will flip to in The Straits Times is the orbituary page (after the cartoon and TV page). It is still the same now, just that this will be one the pages that I must read.

I remembered that I would look at the deceased name, date of birth / death, age at time of demise and the descendants he/she left behind. I would go WOWW' when I see a long list of names, especially those with Tai Poh, Yee Lai, Sum Lai and their broods of mourners.

And then I will try to guess who married who, which grand child belongs to which set of parents.

In those days, as children, we have nothing much to play with (during our time there was no Astro, no PS, no PC), so we have to think of ways to entertain ourselves with all these.

Anyhow, I think I did improve my maths and my Inglish reading these ads!

Statue of St Francis Xaxier - Malacca

Have you ever wonder why the statue of St Francis Xavier at St Paul Hill is missing the right hand?

According to Wikipedia, Francis Xavier was born into an aristocratic family at the castle of Xavier in the Kingdom of Navarre, on 7 April 1506.

Francis Xavier was ordained to the priesthood on June 24, 1537 at Venice, Italy. He devoted much of his life to missions in foreign countries.

He died at Sancian (an island on the southern coast of China) in the year 1552 on the 3rd of December at the age of 46.

He was first buried on a beach of Shangchuan Island. His incorrupt body was taken from the island in February 1553 and was temporarily buried in St. Paul's church in Malacca on 22 March, 1553.

On 11 December, 1553, Xavier's body was shipped to Goa. The body is now in the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Goa, where it was placed in a glass container encased in a silver casket on December 2, 1637.

The right forearm, which Xavier used to bless and baptize his converts, was detached by Pr. Gen. Claudio Acquaviva in 1614. It has been displayed since in a silver reliquary at the main Jesuit church in Rome.

According to someone, when they constructed the statue, it has all the limbs. However, during a thunderstom, the lightning strike and broke the arm as St Francis Xavier was buried without his right hand.

True or False??

The pet kitten we adopted is still in suckling stage. Since Mother Cat deserted her, the family had to be surrogate mother/nanny.

Doter feeding the kitten milk from an improvised bottle (CD Rom Cleaner liquid).

Hope the kitten does not get food (milk) poisoning!

Our New Pet (again)

Sometime last year, we lost our cat due to her pregnancy. We all concluded she had died during birth. The night before, we saw her trying to push her babies out, the next morning she was gone from her basket and we never saw her again.

And I thought that was the last time I would need to worry about furs ending up on my clothing lines and all over the rugs. Alas, my happiness is short lived.

Last week, my jr doter has unofficially adopted a new born kitten, which was abandoned by the mother. She picked it up, cleaned it and made the kitten a home from shoes box. I am using ‘it’ as I do not know if the cat is a male or female. Wait till it’s bigger, then I will take a peek again!

Presenting now our latest pet. She is not named yet, so for now she will be known as Baby!
